// about
Hi, I'm Matt.
I grew up on the Game Boy Advance. It's the console that got me into games, and probably the reason I ended up building things for a living. These days I'm a software engineer by day; you'll find that side of me at motomod.co.uk.
The modding started the way it usually does: I restored one tired GBA to see if I could, and by the time the screen lit up I was hooked. An engineer's itch for hardware, plus a childhood console that deserved better than a drawer. That's the whole story.
Every console on this site passes through my hands here in the UK. No production line, no shortcuts. One person, one workbench, and every unit tested like I'm keeping it.
how every console gets built
- Strip and inspect down to the bare board, so nothing gets hidden under a new shell
- Deep clean of every part worth keeping, twenty years of pocket fluff removed
- Backlit IPS screen fitted and aligned, the mod that makes the GBA what it should have been
- New shell and buttons so it feels fresh in the hands, not just bright
- Full test before shipping, buttons, sound, screen, save and a proper play session
